Mass Tech is pleased to support a dynamic collection of Internship Sponsor Companies through the Intern Partnership. Since its inception by the Legislature, the program has benefitted students, technology organizations, and the overall economy of Massachusetts. A recent group of companies profiled below highlights the success small startups and student interns have experienced since participating in the program:
Hive Maritime: This data science company, focused on analytics in the global shipping industry, used the MTIP program to hire two interns, helping the company accelerate the process of building their product. Silverside Detectors: An alum of MassChallenge and Greentown Labs, as well as the recipient of grants from the NSF's Small Business Innovation Research program and DARPA, Silverside Detectors is creating technologies that can play a major role for public safety and security, developing tools that are revolutionizing nuclear detection technology. Silverside utilized the MTIP program grant to support a student from Northeastern University, which allowed the startup to extend its research and development capabilities. Neurala: One of the first companies to take advantage of the MassTech Internship Partnership has hired several of their former Boston University interns as fulltime employees. This program has allowed Neurala, a small robotics artificial intelligence startup based in Boston, to bring on the extra talent necessary to explore product ideas beyond the initial R&D stage. FormLabs: Hardware startup Formlabs, makers of the Form 1+ affordable high-resolution 3D printer, hired former MIT student Dmitri Megretski following his summer 2013 internship with thecompany, an opportunity that was supported by the MassTech Internship Partnership. Read their success story (PDF).
Bare Tree Media: Bare Tree Media has used the Intern Partnership to recruit local talent that is helping the company grow. They have created an ecosystem of digital distribution partnerships worldwide, offering well-known entertainment brands such as Hello Kitty, Garfield, and Star Trek the ability to reach digitally connected consumers who are eager to engage and purchase branded digital content.
