MassDOT, MassTech Announce Hackathon Aimed at “Visualizing Transportation”

BOSTON –The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (“MassDOT”) and the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MassTech) will host the MassDOT Visualizing Transportation Hackathon, an event which will enable coders, data analysts, and transportation stakeholders to access and collaborate around an unprecedented collection of Massachusetts transportation data. The event will take place December 13th and 14th at hack/reduce, a Cambridge-based community “hackerspace,” and will offer participants the first access to never before seen transportation data. The event finale and award ceremony will feature remarks from Governor Deval Patrick, who will connect with participants by videoconference from Singapore, where he is scheduled to visit the Future Urban Mobility project, part of the Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART).

MassTech Forms Strategic Alliance with French Health Technology Organization

BOSTON – The Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MassTech) and its Massachusetts eHealth Institute (MeHI) signed an agreement forming a strategic alliance with the Grenoble, France, based group Medic@lps. State Requests Proposals for new Mentorship Initiative

WESTBOROUGH - The Innovation Institute at the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (Mass Tech) today released a request for proposals (RFP) as part of a new initiative to strengthen entrepreneur and startup mentoring activities across underserved populations, regions, and industries in the Commonwealth. The RFP allows interested nonprofit, academic, or economic development organizations in the Commonwealth to apply for modest grants, totaling up to $800,000 in the aggregate, to develop or support mentorship activities.

MeHI Launches Technology Development Grant Program with Israeli Counterpart

BOSTON - The Massachusetts eHealth Institute at the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MeHI) today announced the launch of a new program with the Israeli Industry Center for R&D (MATIMOP) which will offer grants to eligible applicants to spur innovation in the emerging health IT sector in both Massachusetts and Israel. This new program, part of the 2011 Massachusetts Israel Innovation Partnership (MIIP) agreement, will offer grants to eligible applicants to fund corporate collaborations between companies in each of the states.

MassBroadband 123 Schedule Update

WESTBOROUGH – The Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI) at the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative has announced an updated project schedule with final milestone tracking for communities within the MassBroadband 123 network, which is targeted for completion in late 2013.
