The WBJ 2018 Manufacturing Summit & Excellence Awards
Accessing critical resources and programs that support Massachusetts manufacturers was the key topic of this year's Manufacturing Summit & Excellence Awards. Jay Ash, Secretary of Housing and Economic Development for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, gave the keynote speech overviewing the Commonwealth's committment to fostering industry growth and opportunity through solid investments and funding for local manufacturers.
A panel of experts and industry leaders discussed the top regional, state and federal incentives, resources, and business assistance programs aimed at supporting manufacturers. Panelists touched on these topics:
- Capital funding;
- Workforce and training funding;
- Investment funding;
- Consortium grants;
- Technical assistance programs;
- Financial/tax incentive programs;
- Business counseling and assessments; and
- Key training programs.
Ira Moskowitz, Director of Advanced Manufacturing Programs at MassTech (M2I2) joined the discussion and spoke of capital grant funding available for the advanced manufacturing field. The Masssachusetts Manufacturing Innovation Initiative (M2I2) at MassTech holds one of the largest grant programs available for advanced manufacturing and is a part of the Manufacturing USA program.
