Falmouth Hospital Wind Turbine Feasibilty Study 11/01/2004 - 05/19/2005

Awardee: Falmouth Hospital
Location: Falmouth
Technology/ies: Wind Energy
Project Type(s): Construction - Renewable Energy Systems
Program & Initiative: Green Buildings + Infrastructure Program/Large Renewables
Total Funding Amount: $37,857.93

Project Overview:
Falmouth Hospital explored the feasibility of installing a utility-scale wind turbine (500kW to 2000 kW) on its campus in Falmouth. The non-profit hospital met the primary criteria for a wind site: excellent wind resource, adequate area to site the turbine, and sufficient electricity consumption to make the installation of a large turbine economically viable. In addition to confirming the wind resource at the 83-bed hospital’s location, this study researched the potential environmental and avian impacts of a wind turbine at the hospital. A portion of the study included a wind turbine photo simulation.
