The MassBay Cybersecurity Center is sponsoring a series of speakers on cybersecurity. The presentations are open to all, but registration is required.

Noureen Njoroge, Global Director of Cybersecurity at Nike and alumna of MassBay, will talk about cybersecurity and women in cybersecurity. She is a passionate Cybersecurity Professional with vast experience in multi-faceted, complex, fast-paced environments in the public and private sector. Noureen excels in Threat Intelligence with proven leadership experience on issues concerning security and data privacy to technical groups and business stakeholders. She is the Director of Cyber Threat Intelligence at Nike. Noureen is a critical thinker, astute problem solver, and an effective translator between technical and non-technical entities in Cybersecurity. She is a global keynote speaker, Awarded as Cybersecurity Global ambassador 2021, award winner of 2020 Cybersecurity Woman of the year by Inteligenca, Cisco 2019 Cybersecurity Champion, and is listed among the Top 30 Most Admired Minority Professionals in Cybersecurity by SeQure World Magazine, UK. Noureen is a people leader and very passionate about mentoring others. She is the owner of the Mentor & Mentee women in Cybersecurity group on LinkedIn, Founder of the Global mentoring program, and the president of the North Carolina Women in Cybersecurity (WiCyS) Affiliate chapter. Noureen Njoroge has continued to be an advocate for many women and others in the IT industry. Noureen sets an example for others to follow in her hard work to keep ahead of the pack in a rapidly changing industry, her commitment to generously share insights on an ongoing basis, and her desire to help clients protect their business and their data in a complex and uncertain world. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from the University of Massachusetts (UMASS) and a graduate of the Cybersecurity program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Kevin Burns, Draper Lab's Chief Information Security Officer, is currently responsible for information security throughout the enterprise, as well as compliance, incident response, and security architecture. Mr. Burns previously worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for twenty-two years, and from 2012, through 2016, held the position of CISO within the Executive Office of Administration and Finance. During his tenure at the Commonwealth, Mr. Burns was responsible for ensuring the security and confidentiality of the Commonwealth’s constituents’ data and private information, as well as ensuring that the executive branch agencies adhered to federal, state, and local compliance regulations. Mr. Burns came to the Commonwealth from the private sector in which he held financial management positions within the hazardous waste industry, as well has having worked for ADP, implementing financial and accounting applications throughout New England.

Mr. Burns is an adjunct professor at Boston College, teaching a course regarding Incident Response, and has been a guest lecturer at Northeastern University. Mr. Burns has been a lecturer and panelist for many cyber-related events, and has been involved in developing and consulting regarding cyber related course materials for Mass Bay Community College.
