Study: Mass. Robotics Companies Employed 4,700 Workers, Generated $1.6 Billion in Revenue in 2015

BOSTON – New research released today by the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative cites 122 companies that now comprise the Commonwealth’s robotics cluster and that these firms employed over 4,700 workers and generated over $1.6 billion in revenue in 2015 alone. The report also identified 33 new robotics startups that were created in Massachusetts over the past five years, an increase of 31 percent. In addition to an assessment of the current state of the industry, “The Massachusetts Robotics Cluster” report also outlines the key robotics sub-sectors where the Commonwealth is taking a global leadership role, including marine robotics, eCommerce logistics technologies, and collaborative robotics.

Agreement Reached To Extend Broadband Coverage In Nine 'Partially Served' Western Massachusetts Towns

WESTBOROUGH – The Massachusetts Broadband Institute at MassTech (MBI) and Comcast have reached an agreement that will extend broadband access in nine municipalities in Western and North Central Massachusetts, a project which is estimated to deliver broadband connectivity to 1,089 new residences and businesses, and will bring the overall coverage level in each town to 96% or above. The grant will provide up to $4 million in state funds to reimburse partial project costs for Comcast, which has existing networks in each of the towns, to construct broadband internet extensions to additional homes and businesses.
