Boston University's Center for Information and Systems Engineering detailed BU Assistant Professor Rabia Yazicigil's role in a $6 million first-year grant from the Northeast Microelectronics Coalition (NEMC) to advance 5G and 6G wireless communications. Yazicigil collaborates with researchers from MIT and Northeastern University, as well as industry partners including Sivers Semiconductors, Ericsson and Raytheon, to develop next-generation universal decoder chips using the Guessing Random Additive Noise Decoding (GRAND) approach.

Northeastern University's College of Engineering reported that ECE Associate Professor Xiaolin Xu and collaborators at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, UMass Amherst and Synopsys Inc. received a $236,226 grant through the Northeast Microelectronics Coalition's (NEMC) SCALE Capital program. The multi-institutional "SAIL" project focuses on securing AI chips and hardware design automation for trusted hardware.
