Healey-Driscoll Administration Grants $1.1 Million to Western New England University to Support Advanced Robotic Welding Technologies

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. – Today, the Healey-Driscoll Administration announced a $1.1 million investment to fund a three-year project at Western New England University (WNE) that fosters the establishment of a research and training cluster in advanced robotic welding technologies. The award will support a collaborative project between WNE’s Center for Advanced Manufacturing Systems (CAMS) that will work with Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) and local industry partners to grow the advanced welding cluster and deliver new highly skilled workers to employers in the region.

Healey-Driscoll Administration Awards Over $900K in Manufacturing Innovation Grants

Today, the Healey-Driscoll Administration announced two new grants from the state’s Massachusetts Manufacturing Innovation Initiative (M2I2) to AeroShield of Hyde Park and Gencores of Somerville. These grants will invest in new R&D infrastructure to boost the manufacturing of advanced materials in the state. The state has invested over $86 million in business expansion and R&D centers in Massachusetts through M2I2, helping to promote innovation and job growth statewide.

Healey-Driscoll Administration, Northeast Microelectronics Coalition Hub Celebrate BAE Systems’ $35 Million CHIPS Win

BOSTON - The Northeast Microelectronics Coalition (NEMC) Hub congratulates BAE Systems Inc., a founding member of the NEMC and a leader on the Hub’s Advisory Group, for Monday’s announcement by the U.S. Department of Commerce of a preliminary award of $35 million in federal CHIPS and Science Act funding to enhance microelectronics production at BAE’s cutting-edge facility in Nashua, NH. The funding will support a proposed project that could quadruple the production of chips necessary for critical defense programs, including the F-35 fighter jet program.

New State Program Aims to Boost Cybersecurity at Mass. Manufacturers

WESTBOROUGH, MASS. — Today, the Center for Advanced Manufacturing at MassTech Collaborative (CAM) launched a new state-funded program to boost cybersecurity at small- and medium-sized manufacturers statewide. The new Manufacturing Cybersecurity Program (MCP) will provide funding of up to $30,000 for capital upgrades to help small businesses fund the purchase of critical cybersecurity infrastructure, including network upgrades, badge readers, cameras, servers, and firewalls. In addition to protecting revenue and intellectual property, the program aims to boost the competitiveness of homegrown manufacturers, as these increased cyber investments will help firms meet cybersecurity standards that are necessary to work on federal projects or other programs for security-focused customers in the private-sector.

Massachusetts Broadband Institute Seeks Public Feedback on Internet for All Plan

WESTBOROUGH, MA – Today, the Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI) launched a public comment period to gather feedback about the state’s Internet for All Plan. In order to deploy over $145 million in funds towards broadband and digital equity allocated to the state through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, MBI is gathering input from residents, municipalities, and organizational stakeholders across Massachusetts both online and via mail. A year of planning efforts has established two documents to guide the state’s Internet for All Plan – a Statewide Digital Equity Plan and the Initial Proposal for the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program.

Healey-Driscoll Administration Awards $2.3 Million to CyberTrust Massachusetts to Strengthen Municipal Cybersecurity Efforts Statewide

BOSTON – Today, the Healey-Driscoll Administration announced a $2.3 million grant through the MassTech Collaborative’s MassCyberCenter to CyberTrust Massachusetts, a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening the cybersecurity ecosystem, to support cybersecurity resiliency for Massachusetts communities and help develop a talent pipeline at Massachusetts colleges and universities to encourage students to enter the field. The CyberTrust Massachusetts grant was announced at the seventh annual Massachusetts Cybersecurity Forum held at the State House today during Massachusetts Cybersecurity Month.

Mass. Broadband Institute Launches $145M Gap Networks Infrastructure Grant Program

October 26, 2023

WESTBOROUGH, MASS. – The Massachusetts Broadband Institute at MassTech (MBI), on behalf of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, has launched the Broadband Infrastructure Gap Networks Grant Program, a new competitive grant program funded by $145 million from the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Capital Projects Fund that aims to deliver high-speed internet infrastructure to areas that currently lack broadband-level service. The Gap Networks program aims to expand connectivity to unserved and underserved locations throughout the state to help bridge the digital divide, with a particular focus on communities with substantial low-income households and disadvantaged populations.
