Detective Lieutenant Brian Gavioli is the Unit Commander for the Criminal Information Section and oversees the Commonwealth Fusion Center’s Massachusetts Cybersecurity Program that provides Cyber Threat Intelligence, Information Sharing, and Cyber Incident Response with private, local, state, and federal partners, with a focus on the protection of critical infrastructure.  He is a member of the Massachusetts Cyber Incident Response Team, which was established by the Governor, and is a Task Force Officer with the FBI Boston Cyber Task Force. Prior to his current position, Brian was assigned to the Cyber Crime Unit where he worked as a digital forensics examiner for over 16 years.

Darrin Kimes, Cyber Threat Intelligence Analyst, Verizon Threat Research Advisory Center

Mr. Kimes has a background in federal law enforcement where he retired after a 25 year career as a U.S. Secret Service Special Agent. For Verizon, Mr. Kimes researches topics such as ransomware, data collection and analysis, threat actor discovery, and threat hunting.

For 17 years, Verizon has gathered data and analyzed security incidents to produce the DBIR with the goal of providing “a place for security practitioners to look for data-driven, real-world views on what commonly befalls companies with regard to cybercrime.” Find out what’s new in the world of exploits, and what remains persistently challenging.
